Winter Mode: ENGAGE!

I've actually been set up for a couple weeks now, but finally got around to taking photos.

Removed front lip
Dunlop WinterSport M3 tires in 215/45-17 on stock wheels
RallyArmor UR flaps with red text

Inside is a come-along, tow strap, reflective triangle, and collapsible shovel. I still need to get a blanket, high calorie food bars, and bottle water in there. I'll be driving from OH to MA and back for Xmas, so a robust roadside/crash kit is a very good idea.

Just subscribed/bookmarked your journal so I hope you're not "done" for too long! Love your choice of modifications and that you explain your reasoning behind each one. Also really appreciate the organization of the journal and that you've included DIY links to several projects. Planning on taking delivery on a CBS before the end of the year (here's hoping) and I've been eyeing your thread for awhile now. Keep it up!

I'm glad this thread has been useful.

I just finished my Xmas trip to visit family in MA and on the way back I hit 10,000 miles. So I'll be making a post about living with the car for 10K plus some interesting photos of the dirty car (as long as it doesn't rain tomorrow.)

As for future mods, I don't have anything I'm really planing on, but I do have a couple ideas. I'm toying with the idea of doing a 7" tablet for a head unit. And I'm really curious about the Quicksilver exhaust system. But that would depend on selling my AP system and how much a QS system would be once imported. Who knows?

But I have a winter project and some plans for the future that may derail future development of the BRZ. We'll see.

Were you thinking of buying an android unit for the car or fitting a tablet into the dash? I'm sure you've seen these but for anyone else who's curious: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17228 (built, integrated Android) and http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17990 (fitting a tablet into the dash). I've actually entertained the idea of fitting my Nexus 7 into the navi as well, but I think I'd miss my tablet too much! Perhaps further down the future for me.

Big things are brewing..

Quick list:

Act HD Clutch and ProLite flywheel
PST Carbon Fiber Driveshaft
RCE hollow sways
Whiteline adjustable endlinks
Full header-back exhaust (haven't decided on the specifics yet)
STI engine and tranmission mounts.
Stoptech SS brake lines to go with Carbotech brake pads.
Cusco strut tower bar with M/C brace

All to support an Innovate Twin Screw SC with possibly Water/Methanol injection.

This could snowball easily though. I'm already looking into wider wheels and tires since I don't think the 235s will match the new torque well. We shall see.

About time you updated this thing! I've got grip for days with 255 direzza Z2s. I'm installing mine Friday night/Saturday morning.

I'm eyeballing 265/35-18s on 18x9.5 wheels. I haven't decided which wheels yet. Because I'll have to likely get some pricey coilovers to get them to fit, I'm thinking of either Enkei RPF1s or NT03+Ms. The NT03s look so much better, but I'd have to give up any plans for bigger brakes later.

The only other option is the Advan RGD, but those are a cool grand more per set.

I'm surprised with all the De-Ambering you did with the lights, you left the amber sidemarkers.

The clear look amazing, imo.

I'm digging winter mode! Almost, almost makes me wanna drive mine in snow. But I've got an STi for that now, thankfully.

Pretty much. Finally getting headway on the BRZ. Lots of speedbumps along the way. Still trying to deal with a big one.

I'm LONG overdue to update this thread.

So much done!

Without further ado, I give you:

Ghost 2.0: "Wraith"

And the changes go WAY beyond skin deep. There's so much new that I considered starting a new thread, but decided against it..

So why the change?

I loved the way the car was set up before. It was well balanced, capable, and tons of fun. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a similar build if asked for a DD/Light AutoX setup. But I just can't leave well enough alone.

I picked up a car to be a winter beater (which has since turned into a nightmare, but that's another story) and decided that the BRZ could use a little more power. That was the small snowball that started the avalanche. Because, really, if you're gonna do something, do it right. More power means more heat, so better cooling is needed. More power means more torque, so bigger tires are needed. And I might as well get the most of it too...

Unfortunately, right after I started collecting parts, my "reliable" winter beater turned into a complete basket case. It ate all my time and money, and I curse the day I laid eyes on it. So now, about a YEAR later, I'm finally done.
