Yeah, like I said, my Subaru dealer can't do much with a Scion TSB (I did show it to him already). I saw that you drove a BRZ, so I figured you might have access to the Subaru TSB instead.

Oh ya... Subaru. "You looked at your car too much so we won't fix your shifter."

Oops, sorry about that. I will take a look at my paperwork when I get home and see if the TSB info is in there. If not, I will post it next week after they perform the work.

The TSB is listed on my repair order as 03-71-13. Google search links that to another thread here.

Try holding your reverse lockout and push it to the side and see if it happens. I find out it's the metal piece in the shift rod that the reverse lockout pin is screw into. At high rpm the metal piece is knocking on the side of the rod.

If you take off your reverse lockout you will know what I mean.
I took a look and I think it's this also. The white plastic pieces do nothing to keep that metal piece from rattling inside of the shifter rod. I'm thinking that redesigning said plastic pieces could fix the issue.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I get an occasional rattle. Anyone else with possible solutions?

I have the same issue on my 2015 too , it happens very randomly though. And surprise surprise it never happens when the dealer takes it for a Test drive .

The I get the - "Our technicians were not able to find anything wrong with the Shift lever "
