These things sell for $1,500 and are extremely useful for visualizing heat transfer and fluid dynamics. It seems to me that vendors such as Full Blown could greatly benefit from this relatively small investment and put some extremely powerful R&D to work to come up with innovative solutions to these heat issues. Simply modifications such as removing cowls and modifying skid plates could be visualized on a dyno run in minutes.
The organization I work for may or may not own one of these top end cameras from FLIR. Too bad I don't have my car anymore.

I talked with one of the mechanics that works at the local Subaru speed shop called Driven Performance a couple weekends ago, and he said the last time he saw it and talked to the new owner that it was still running great.

Here's pics of the work I did today on my skidplate.

I used rubber pieces from the front of my old BMW 135i, which with some cutting, fit perfectly.

I cut the skidplate, installed the rubber strips, and it could not have come out more perfect!

I really think this will help to pull more air out of the engine bay.

Louvres I think could be added to our stock skidplate to end up pretty close to the one in the pic.

Saw this on the "super 86". Idk if this could be applied for a track FI car.

Instead of removing, how about modifying the windshield cowel to allow airflow without completely eliminating its functionality to catch water when it rains? I'm thinking of cutting holes in mine. I'd like to go for the Seibon TS hood, but I've seen ones that fit well and ones that look like shit. Don't think I want to risk it on a part so difficult to return. Even Seibon wont stand behind the fitment of their product :/
