Brakes feel 'stiffer' than usual after pumping
Hey everyone,
Quick question on brakes - was diagnosing an issue earlier yesterday (thought I heard some abnormal clicking from brake depression) so I pumped it a few times while off, of course it got stiff since brake boost wasn't running while engine is off. However, after turning the car back on, I felt that brake travel did not go back to normal, felt a bit high/harder to depress - makes my heel-toe feel off as I'm not getting the brake to travel far enough on moderately hard braking. Anyone ever experience something similar? Does it take some time to sink back into regular travel after pumping with the engine off? Also, is having an air 'venting' sound when depressing the brake normal? Cheers

All of that sounds normal.
You're building pressure into the MC when you pump the brake with the car off - do it too hard and you risk damaging the seals inside the MC. A 'whooshing' sound would be related to the functionality of the power brakes - remember you pull vacuum from the intake into the booster when you press the pedal. I believe the sound you're hearing is the booster. |

Does the excess pressure built up in MC return to normal after turning car on? My issue is that it feels slightly stiffer after pumping it completely stiff with car off then turn back on.

It should return to normal once the car is on - should disappear once you drive a bit.
