Well, Heel-toeing isn't really a skill you'll probably be using as a first timer. That's a skill to most efficiently utilize the braking zone to prep for acceleration coming out of the turn.

Its pretty difficult to lightly hit the brakes and blip the throttle at the same time. SO I wouldn't even worry about learning that until you are blazing off some really quick lap times.

Having done one of H2R's schools before. I would recommend having a decent upgraded brake pad and brake fluid. You'll probably want to not be on stock tires as well.

Also, I may be able to do the twisted sisters run that day as I'm not doing the College Station Match Tour that weekend.

Well crap.... I'm on stock brakes, fluid, and tires and don't plan on changing any of that before the run. But I really don't care about being super fast... I just want a place where I can throw out the back end and not worry about hitting anything or getting any tickets!

Well you can do it on stock equipment, but as you get faster you will start experiencing brake fade.. Just something to keep in the back of your head. You should be fine.

@blunova - Some of that driving you've done on the Sisters Run was severe on brakes and your rotors and pads didn't melt away. HH is probably a notch or two above the Sisters though. You will begin to smell pads esp. if your window is open - brake fade will begin at some point thereafter as they heat up more! Dittos - as long as you are aware. We don't want to destroy our tires either so probably won't be pushing the limits like Matt and Tim do!!!! @TEWwild is still on stock brakes and he's done HH on stock tires, too. But, it's gonna be GO FAST - BRAKE - TURN - GO FAST AGAIN - ETC. Should be fun!!!

Putting you down, Matt!

"Reservations are required 72 hours in advance and subject to class availability and weather...." I guess you purchase the voucher on Amazon and then call to make a reservation for the class. I think I'd be in for this!

April 11 is on a Friday - @blunova ... what is a good date for you? It would be fun if a bunch of us were there as a group!!

Update: I pulled the trigger and I have a voucher!!
I'm pretty sure Mar 9 will not be available, they have spokes autocross that day.

I actually upgraded my brake pads and put in S'S lines last week but did not get the fluid swapped.... Boiled it pretty good yesterday before the rain started.... Stock setup will be fine your first time out, you'll be surprised how grippy the stock rubber is once you get some heat in them... You will have a blast, if I'm not working I'll try to be there when you go!!!

Yeah, I've been thinking of doing lines and fluid. What SS lines did you go with? I've still got some MTEC shifter springs to install and I have a nylon shifter bushing as well as the Perrin tranny mount support I haven't installed...have to drop drive-shaft and down-pipe so have been putting it off! Guess I better get busy and schedule my neighbors fancy lift in his garage!!!

We ( @blunova , possibly @AteMyShorts) have vouchers for HH but, have not scheduled a day as yet. Would a weekday be more desirable than a weekend day?

I would do weekday if possible, better chance of running longer if there aren't many members there to run when you're done.
I bought the stop tech lines from ft86speedfactory...

I am in with a voucher for Harris Hill. Thanks for the advice Tim. I was leaning towards Friday, April 11, but I'll do a weekend if that's better for the group.

I will be there but I do not need a slot in the class. I am a member at the track now, I told you it is addicting, so I can run regardless... I'm not saying that I don't need further instruction, I've just had that class already. I've got the dashcam so I can get some video of each of you on the track if you would like.

On that note, here's a quick video from my mini school day, I just returned to the track from the gas station and he sent me out on my own for the first time, it kind of highlights the need to get some heat into the tires before pushing it, (and it's not the best line through that corner either....)

And this one from after the first time trial I did in October.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwhBkQbY5s"]My Best Lap so far @ H2R 1:37.64 - YouTube[/ame]

I've gotten my times down a bit since then but haven't taken the time to edit the videos....(I'm running stock rubber and brakes w/20k miles in both of these videos)
