fwiw i wouldn't let a dealer even drive my car long enough to take it into the service bay and look it over, so the warranty doesn't mean anything at all to me. i knew it was gone the day i bought the car, wouldn't use it even if i still had it. i've worked at enough dealerships not to trust those idiots with anything.
They won't flash any of the A00C or earlier cars with the transient fix, which my car falls into...yet it has the flawed transient knock table values. I'm with you on not letting dealers touch my car though. I avoid them like the plague. The only time my car has been to the dealer was for the emissions recall flash, which I had to have done BY LAW, in order to register my car.

I wish we didn't have to be fraudulent, but we do. Most of us don't have the time or money to hire a lawyer to fight a powerful car company when they deny our warranty based on something that is unrelated, despite the fact that the Magnuson-Moss act is in place to protect us from just that.

The only way to get them to flash it is to complain about a related problem. My dealer knows I have the extended warranty and they know I tune the car not only because I told them NOT to touch it but because I put a Valet tune on it when I take it in after catching them peeling out in it.

Now I am dealing with Toyota not Subaru and they really are very relaxed with me, they do not mind nor feel my mods cause any issues. Could they make the claim later, yes but they know many of us including the Service Manager have these cars and modify them. I think its just hit or miss with them.

Now if I have a serious issue then we will see but at this point I don't expect any issues.

good grief, I'm not trying to pull one over on the dealer, and I really don't mean to come across that way. if a coilpack is faulty, I don't see how E85 made that happen. the only reason I even care about flashing back to stock is to 1) determine if the issue persists in stock-like conditions. if not, then I know it's likely some rich condition in the tune that I don't need to bother the dealer with at all. and 2) in the even that they feel they have to update my ROM, my understanding is that I should flash back to stock from OFT so that afterwards I can read the "new stock" map onto it with less hassle.

for the most part, I prefer not to go to the dealer at all. but I put a lot of miles on the car and paid for the extended warranty "just in case," mostly because it's a new model and who knows what could go wrong. I'm right around 40,700 miles at this point.

hehe

Like @Cross just said, it's hit or miss with dealers. I refuse to go back to my local dealers because they can't find the time to follow up with me about my issues with them. Bought two cars there now and it won't happen again. However, the dealer by my work is where I bought a Fozzy for my mom and they are super relaxed. I have yet to go in for service there, so we'll see how that goes. I have a list of crap that I want fixed, some I could do myself, but one thing is a GPS issue that drives me batty...they have software and some kind of bracket for that, dunno how I'd do it on my own.

Ok thanks. Also i wanted to know if my TRD intake will work ok with your maps? Btw, which map is used for an otherwise stock car with a TRD intake?

For a stock car you use the Stage 1 maps on petrol
If you want to run E85 on a stock car use E85 stage 2 EL Header map.

Changing intakes can upset the MAF (mass air flow) calibration used in any of the maps (they have been optimized for stock intake), especially if the maf sensor housing is changed or the diameter of the intake tube changes. If the TRD intake uses standard intake tube where sensor sits then you may get away without re-scaling the MAF . Its not going to cause a major problem just will not be optimal AFR

You can do it yourself if you read up on it or opt for the e-tune package from Vishnu (OFT).

Sorry thats not how it read No worries

I've noticed a lot of posts about downloading current mapping for this or that tune. Is there a facility for us to upload possible solutions/improvements to specific hardware applications?

Is it a problem for me to have a drop-in filter + Perrin inlet tube while running the STAGE2 tune with my Borla UEL header? Would I be better off going back to the stock inlet tube and filter?

you are fine. I run the same setup. When you say inlet tube, you still have the stock box. You just did a noise generator delete?

I have the stock intake box with the sound tube removed by having the perrin tube. HKS drop in instead of stock filter.
