Drift-Office : Introducing "86 Nights!"

So I figured I'd chime in since there's no clear direction where the current weekly meets are headed (read : nowhere IMHO) and to make things more interesting, this is what I'm proposing and prepared to do :

We hold a once-a-month meeting @ Drift-Office since it's pretty central to those up North and South. We make this a community garage hour where anyone with a FRS / BRZ is welcome to come and mingle, ask questions, gawk at stuff and just compare notes with other people. This idea was spawned from the "AE86 Nights" concept down in SoCal.

Once in awhile, I'll even have a special 86 or two on the dyno for you to check out and if anyone else is interested, I can certainly show / discuss / compare results of pertinent builds.

It's a good idea, and I'm always open to Q&A if anyone is interested. There's no agenda to sell anything since I don't stock parts, and if anyone has tuning questions / concerns, this would be a good time for me to address them as such.

Rather than having 2 splintered groups each week, let's make it one so I'll put it out there that we'll do this on a Wednesday night, starting @ 6:30PM and ending whenever. I do work at the shop late so this wouldn't be an issue for me. I'll have parking for over 60 cars but I'm not planning or thinking that it will be remotely close to that. There's plenty of fast food all around, with McDonalds right beside me and there's pretty much every fast food chain store within a few hundred yards of my location, Starbucks included!

What I would need is to know that there are people interested in this - so I'd like to see 20 or more "Thanks" on this particular post as an indication and I'll create a closed FB page to keep up with the updates as opposed to scrolling thru countless pages to figure out critical information...

Thoughts people?

Regards,

Bob @ Drift-Office, LLC

Why? Cuz just 5 people don't make the decision for the rest of this community.

Meeting at DO sounds like a great idea to me.. but instead of throwing in FB into the mix:

why not just have a sticky with the first couple posts reserved and you just update the first post with the latest info for the meet? That would eliminate having to sift through multiple pages of crap, and would eliminate having to use FB on top of the forum. Since the meet up info / times wouldn't really change, the only thing we'd need to track, at that point, would be if the event was green lighted or not for that particular day... not real need to throw facebook in here.

I guess whatever's easier for you Bob (but at least make the FB even publicly viewable so guys that hate fb like me don't have to have and/or log in to their account )

I'm game, but any chance of making the once a month meet on a friday night or saturday morning. My work schedule is rough for week nights. I'd like to stay for the full meet and have time for a group run once in a while.

I'm willing to make the extra drive from Everett as long as it's not each week. Bob's idea should stimulate better attendance if the groups merge. Don't see any reason not to.

Hey, maybe we can get one of those 'taco trucks' to cater the event occasionally

I don't facebook so I guess I'm pre-uninvited.

I like the idea and I'd stop buy.

Almost a three hour drive for me (probably more with traffic), but this sounds like it would be an awesome monthly meet, if it takes off. I can't promise anything, but I would definitely try to make it up.

So the question becomes, shall we make it a FRIDAY night event? That way the guys from OR can come up (if they'd like!)

I'll even make concessions to put their Innovate setup on the dyno.

Cheers!
