From my understanding, they have to prove that whatever changes you made to the car directly effected the work that you are bringing it in for to deny a warranty claim

I kind of understand what you mean, but then again, the internet is not a private club.

Not to mention, these kinds of dealer shenanigans have been going on for years and have been well documented...and it seems Subaru and Mitubishi are the main culprits. I'm surprised Subaru even bothers, what with all their owners being so mature and all.

Will Smith is far too busy pimping his kids to spend time on car forums...

I need to go to this Subaru dealership with my FR-S just to troll them. Every single light in my car is an LED.

I lowered the car, no more shock replacement, etc. They have encouraged me to beat on it and enjoy it and bring it in if there are any issues that came up.
It's weird isn't it? The FRS and BRZ are the exact same car (for the most part) with the same types of issues but the Subaru dealers always seem to be such hard asses about getting any warranty work done.

I wish I could take the nicer BRZ interior and slap it into the FRS and call it a day...

Doesn't that seem straight out of "to catch a predator"?

Chris Hansen: I have a chat transcript here from ft86club.com "WillBRZ: I am going to give it to my car so hard. Oh yeah baby. She'll never see it coming. She's never done anything like this before but it's OK I have lots of experience. I hope I don't get caught by my dealership". That is you, isn't it Will?

Not weird at all. Subaru has had the WRX/STI, while Scion has had....the tC? The WRX/STI's get modded to hell and beat to shit...meanwhile the tC's get tinted windows and....stickers?

Now, who's more likely to come in with a questionable warranty issue? Who's more likely to be monkeying around under the hood? Who's more likely to do 6k clutch drops? Who's more likely to track their car, cause damage, and then claim they were "just driving along"?

This same exact thing happened with Mitsubishi and the EVO's. Suby and Mitsu apparently just got sick of dealing with warranty issues and started trollling forums...this has been going on for at least 10 years...

The only thing surprising about this thread is that they're trying to blame it on LED's.

The only thing surprising about this thread is that they're trying to blame it on LED's.
At this point, shouldn't they take into consideration that the two cars are basically replicas of eachother, geared to pretty much the same "type" of crowd (not age), and were both advertised to be track/autox cars?

I think the point he was trying to make was it's the exact same car getting treated VERY differently by two different companies. Subaru isn't stupid (well, maybe this dealership is), they KNOW that an LED and tint aren't going to cause any transmission grind. The whole idea is leudacrous and so is their claim that the car is "heavily modified"

I'm half tempted to call and harass them a bit about the definition of "heavily modified"
