Iphone 5 Charging idea DIY
So if you're like many of us with an Iphone 5, you might find it kind of hard to charge it and/or trying to make the inside look "clean" from wires. This is just how I ran mine; maybe it will help others. I should note that this DIY is for Iphone 5 ONLY because of the side of the connector.
First things first; You need a 2M (6 feet) Apple Iphone 5 charger cable Next, remove the ebreak boot and unscrew off the shifter knob. You will also need to "pop" off the shifter bezel to access the space under it. I pluged in the USB end of the cable into the USB drive, then "snaked" the cable around the side and up untill I could see/reach it. Next, Look into the middle console and you will see the 12V popwer port. You will notice that there is a small rectangle opening on the bottom of it. This is where you will reach inside through the shifter opening and guide the small end of the USB cable into that opening. I have quite big hands but I was still able to do this. Put everything back... I have a Sutty arm rest and it really helps cover the middle. The OEM armrest would look good, too! I do use my phone for GPS and I wanted to make sure that if I needed to see the phone, the cable was also long enough to reach the other side of the shifter so it would "stand up" while I drive. This just shows you the reach the cable can go. This is the passenger side view. I could make a hole and have the cable be tucked away up much higher, but this is just the way I did it. Thanks for looking! Hope this helps! Cheers

You can also run the wire from the glove box underneath the molding on the passenger side without ripping up anything or making the armrest power plug un-useable.

Can you find a song/album/artist on the stock head unit via blue tooth?

I use a 6ft amazon lightning cable with another usb extension run from a pillar to a pillar between the dash and window hidden across the car down to the glovebox 12v. With a bit more length I'd guess someone could even run to the head unit usb fully hidden. I prefer the faster charging from the 12v plug though. Drivers side suction cup ram mount easy reach from left hand in sight of road. The way I prefer my cables and men. |

I use the cig plug pretty frequently for my tire pump during autox/trackdays so I'd rather not block that port.
