Inconsistent gear box?

I have installed a kartboy short shifter, whiteline trans insert, kartboy rear shifter bushing, whiteline diff and cradle inserts, and whiteline sub frame inserts. I have also changed the stock fill for petosin.

When my gear box wants to, it shifts beautifully. But the buttery smooth shifts are intermittent and mixed with notchy an less positive shifts. I can't really make any sense of it... Maybe fluid? Or maybe I need to stiffen up my motor mounts at this point? Any advice to make it shift more consistently?

I would opt for MTEC shifter springs personally. I've heard a lot of great things about them!

I've come to find if I am too gentle with the shift, it has more problems. Dunno is thats the case for you and you don't realize it or not. But just watch the next time it happens if you are being too gentle when it does

You know how sometimes the shift produces a clunk in the rear, but not always? It may be related to that. The gears also feel different warm vs cold.

Fully a agree with OP. Totally stock car here and the shifts are either buttery smooth or notchy. Doesn't matter if hot or cold.

Yes! Being too gentle makes it more clunkly. You'd think the opposite.

Hopefully the cops will understand that. "While performing my Italian tune up on the interstate, I need to shift at redline to keep my transmission healthy, officer."

I changed my tranny fluid and I don't shift like a 16 year old .... no issues ever. Only notchy when cold. 1-2 shift is sort of brutal but it's the same when driving hard in my Soarer with an R-154.
