You're lucky yours is still open at all. Both my last base and my current base have closed theirs years ago as a cost-saving measure. Made me very disappointed when I wanted to install parts on my car.

That is funny cause Hurlburt Field's is the best in the area and Eglin AFB just paid a bunch of money to redo theirs so it is much nicer now.

BTW, the stock block is not good for 500whp, ask me how I know

We will be building another built long block later this summer and will test it on e85 with the GTX30R once we max that out, we will fit in a GTX35R. But that's going to be a big jump since you will need to address all the other supporting mods, cooling, tranny, axles, driveshaft, diff, clutch, tires, aero, etc.

What are you looking to do with all this power?
Thanks, was just curious, may do something crazy later this year, maybe even something along the lines of a twin charge, thinking high rev motor with charger handling the bottom half and super big turbo for the top half 😁

Like where you guys put your turbo, but the pipe coming over the motor would obviously have to turn and go around it.

I called to double check and it turns out they are, in fact, open on Saturday. So yes, if I go ahead with my self install plan, I would start on Friday after work and try to finish up on Saturday. Still a bit leery of a self install but it would save a nice chunk of change that could be spent on more parts. Lol. However having the shop do it would be much better for my peace of mind.

Remember if you don't install it, then you don't know how it goes together or comes apart and should anything need to be adjusted or fixed, you might have to go back to said shop.

I hope you have a friend with you. Getting it done in a weekend can be done with two people. Dropping the tranny and swapping the clutch is half the work and could take you a day with all the prep work; removing exhaust, taking off front bumper, etc... Good luck, and I hope you end up installing it as you'll learn a lot about this car while tearing it apart.

Thank you. Yes, if I do it I'll have a friend or two (or three) with me. It sounds like fun but the logistics might be tougher. I can start on Friday after work, and continue on Saturday, but if I don't finish I'm not sure when I could get back to it.

Do any of you guys have any experience with Tein coilovers? Thinking of buying the Tein Mono Sport coilovers, it seems like a good balance for street driving and performance. It's in my budget, which is no more than $2K.

Any recommendations for a good balanced coilover system within that price range and preferably with camber adjustable top hats?

havent heard good things. There was a big thread several years back where Tein screwed over a few members on here iirc. Go with KW or Ohlins.

Also am pretty interested in the RS*R Sports-i coilovers. But the only thing I don't like about them is they don't have adjustable top mounts. They have 2 camber settings and that's it. I know I can buy adjustable top mounts and swap them out.

Heard great things about RSR as well. Depending on what you are doing all the adjust ability in the world may not be the best thing. If you are proper racing rather than just some daily driving/canyon carving you will see a set with more adjust ability I would say

Yeah just spirited weekend driving. I just dont want a bunch of uneven wear on my tires. Would really like to take a racing course eventually too and start doing a few track days a yr. Looks like so much fun!

Let me know when you're ready for a set of ohlins. After that we'll have the same setup

I really wish I could afford a set of Ohlins, I've heard good things about them. They are a bit out of my price range though.
