The thread is about the GR86 driveshaft, and everyone is talking about single piece carbon/aluminum driveshaft.

Your thread was to swap shafts to save a whopping 1.5 kg. What did you expect? The theme is lighter shaft. That's what you got.

Title is quite clear, and I didn't say I want to save 1.5 kg. I'm interested in the feeling, as a lighter driveshaft could perhaps bend more. This is quite noticeable going to STi rear axles. So, I repeat, the thread is the GR86 driveshaft, as the title says, and not lighter driveshaft, single piece driveshaft or any other.

Maybe make your intentions more clear as it sounds like you are interested in the GR driveshaft because it's lighter and made no other mention of anything else What it sounds like you are asking now is if the GR driveshaft has any improved feel and/or response. Again, not clear in what you wanted as when asked what the difference is you merely replied, "it's 1.5kg lighter." I wasn't relating my experience because it was a one piece driveshaft, but because it is lighter and the only other lighter shafts on the market happen to be one piece, as what your original post sounds like you where interested in. Lighter doesn't mean bend more either. When it comes to hollow shafts, diameter is more important.

Gazoo Racing branded 1 pc Canola, but only from the '22.5-'23.0 run of cars.
But in seriousness, I do think the swap is something to consider if you're class racing and allowed to parts swap between MY of cars. The extra bits of weight savings do start to add up. Last edited by villainous_frx; 05-06-2023 at 02:19 PM. Reason: also lol the admins barely clean the spam up |
