Wolfgang sealant. I switched to this stuff about a year and a half ago and it's really so much better than wax. Much easier to apply, lasts a lot longer, and looks every bit as good as any carnuaba wax I've put on a car. A little pricier than your standard autozone paste wax, but not crazy expensive. If you can wait for one of those 25% off + free shipping sales at autogeek a bottle is $30 to your door and will last year.

I have a question about a car wax for my FR-S.
A couple of years ago, my daughter got me a detailing kit from Griot's Garage. So, I tried the wax (Griot's Best of Show). I applied it and let it dry. When I went to take it off, I thought I'd NEVER get it off. So this week, I tried it again. The temperature was in the high 60s and a bit of humidity was in the air. I applied as directed to the roof of my white car and let it dry. DANG! I thought I'd never get it off (and I was using micro-fiber towels and hand rubbing). Now, I'll admit my elbow grease is running low - - but it was a bitch to get off. Even after I let it dry some more and hit it with a clean towel, it still pulled hard and the surface felt greasy. So, am I doing something wrong or is this just the nature of the product?? humfrz |

Which is why I got my car ceramic coated. No need elbow greasing. I use either Optimum Instant Detailer/Gloss or Car Pro Reload on top of ceramic coating. Wipe on, Wipe off Grasshopper!

Yep, I let it dry for about 10 minutes, then let it dry for another hour. Dang, I still thought I was going to have to use a belt sander to get it off - OK, nope, not another coat. That was it's last chance. I'll go back to my old standby - Meguiar's carnauba wax. Which reminds me of back in 1970, just after I got my brand new BRG MGB-GT. I was going to use the best wax (before all this plastic crap was out) so, I bought a black can of paste "Classic Car Wax". Yep, I smeared it all over that puppy and let it dry. Well, about 3 hours later and many old wool sweaters later (before microfiber mind you) I FINALLY got it off.- humfrz |

Clay bar and ceramic coating, better than waxing and lasts much longer.
I used Sonax CC36 on my new BRZ before 5 months and I am going to apply a Sonax "Polymer net shield" at the end of month just to increase longevity of the upper hydrophobic coating, no need for special car shampoo, cleaners or waxes, I just wash it with deionized water and light soap and shines as first day! |
