Anyone else getting Diablo 3?

We can't say if you'd like it or not.
I wouldn't call it "crap". Well, it's some sort of Diablo II + WoW... some would like such a combination, others would hate it.

Some +/- points, but this is just my opinion:
+ mindless hack and slashing
+ you can play over and over on the same maps, kill the same monsters just to grind coins/items
+ co-op mode possible, play with your friends
- mindless hack and slashing
- no story to talk about; even the short movies are weak. And you'll have to pass through that several times, for each difficulty level.
- only a few classes/maps/whatever. You're supposed to play over and over the same maps, slay the same monsters for coins/items.
- you must be online in order to play; on Hardcore this means network lag can kill your character. Network down, server maintenance = no game.
- you can buy in-game coins and items with real money. And... items seems much more important than your so-called skills.

It's Diablo 2 with improved graphics and user interface.

There are tons of skills to choose from and they are all accessible (so you can mix and match without rolling another character), but you'll find that you really end up using only a few combinations, certain skills are simply not good enough to be used if the goal is to farm.

I myself have 4 combos that i really use, solo regular, solo boss, group regular, group boss. That's about it.


so if you want to EXPERIMENT, there are lots of options, but 90% of those options are simply don't deliver the BEST results, so it's a toss up.


Items are random and anyone can drop awesome stuff.

except that every time is fully randomized. So you get wands with stats that only a warrior would need, and vice versa. So it gets annoying having to throw away a lot of good stuff.

other than that, the game is more about ITEMS than skill, so the entire game is a grind to find better items to grind faster to get better items.

so in a nutshell, it's Diablo 2 refined and nothing more. And if you never played or never liked Diablo 2, then you will get bored with this game very quickly.

I lol at people on high horses criticizing the game. It is a very specific game type that caters to a very specific gamer. Kind of like the FRS/BRZ. If you don't like the monotony of grinding gold and gear with a pointless story, this game is not for you plain and simple.

It is certainly a "to each their own" type of game, in the same way I hate hellaflush I can see people hating Diablo 3.

I loved Diablo 2 and this is just a modified version of that. I am still in the lower levels and will probably never complete it all the way to the top difficulties so I am not too worried about having to buy gear. It is a good time waster while my Lady Friend watches some ridiculous reality TV show.
