More than likely the Genesis Coupe. Think Kia version of a GC but slightly smaller and a liftback.

I did not know that about the Equus and forgot about the Gen Coupe but if it's sharing the chassis in a significant way to the GC, then it stands to reason the 2+2 Kia might be very much like a GC with a Kia badge on it. 2L Turbo sounds familiar, I wonder if it's a tweaked version of what's in the 2L Turbo GC now.

I want to be excited about this car but I just can't do it. Sports car concept, probably will be shown a few different times before they actually decide to make anything.
When we see something close to a production model, that's when I'll start readying for the hype. I just hope it gets its own transmission and doesn't take the 6MT from the GC. bleh. |

The 2.0T GC is rated at 274hp now and it shouldn't be that hard for Kia to squeeze 41 more hp out of that engine. Guys on GenCoupe.com are getting more with I/H/E + tune.

I laughed so hard when I saw that... It looked so sleek and cool from the top but from the side it's a big ugly monster. It's like a midget SUV. So much for competition to the 86/BRZ. My parents have a new KIA Optima and while it has decent styling and features for the price, I really don't like it. The throttle response is bad and the handling is very bleh. Plus, even though I have driven it many times, the layout for their climate controls still makes no sense. I have to constantly take my eyes off the road just to try and find where the buttons are to do simple adjustments.

There is no way they can get this car below 3000lbs. It will be riding on modified GC chassis. It is unlikely it will have the same power level as the GC since it is a Kia. At the end of the day it will be inferior to our frs/brz.

I will give you that the Twin is a Brilliant Affordable -Small, Light Weight, Reliable Sport Coupe from Toyota. For Christ Sake, The Porsche could be priced as such as sub 30k, if they used As Cheap Materials as the Twin. The only different = Porsche didn't have that thinking. Hence the Twin is Brilliant |

Actually it will probably be riding on the Next Gen GC chasis which we know nothing about except that, like every other manufacturer, Hyundai claims will be lighter. And the press release says 315hp 2.0T which pretty much splits the difference power wise between the 4 and 6 cyl GenCoupes.

Oooh, ok. That's much better. Maybe there's hope for a KIA sports car afterall.

Talk is cheap so I'll believe that Kia brings a production sports coupe to market when they actually do it.
That fwd Forte mess and the Genesis Coupe do little to interest me. Even their "halo" car (if you can call it that) which advertises to have "more power than a Porsche Panamera S" is a total yawn. You figure if they had a concept this year and actually brought out a car by 2015 they'll be competing directly with the new Mustang and possibly withthe Takada hinted style changes to the twins. If they wait until 2016 then they will be very late to the party. |
