clutch input pls

Never have driven on an upgraded clutch besides a stock one before so I'm here to gather some input from the community in regards to what I should be looking at. These are things that I want and are interested in:

-will handle around 300hp or a tad more with my vortech kit
-daily driving. morning and evening commute consist of traffic with constant stop and go
-wekeends are fun times in the canyon on the way home
-want something similar to stock, stiffer is ok, but nothing like where it'll be a pain in the ass for daily driving
-sometimes will be tracked but not the main focus.

so input please everyone. hopefully the things that I am looking for and go through provide insight. i don't have a specific brand choice or anything like that. I just want what's best for me with the provided information.

Thanks!

ACT HD Clutch - get the kit with the street flywheel (they have 2 types of flywheels).

I recommend ACT as I use one on my personal car and I really like it, they also produce very nice quality kits and have great customer service and support.

Yup!

If you stay around that power level you'll be good to go.

If you went higher you may want the 6 puck at that point, but that's not as "street friendly" as the full face HD kit.

Shoot us a message if you need any more help

I haven't felt the ACT, but I've had the CM FX300 and Exedy Stage 1. The exedy is basically a stiffer version of the stock clutch. It's nearly twice the pedal pressure (but still significantly less than the FX300!) but the engagement is damn near identical to stock. It's completely dd friendly and besides the added pedal pressure, it's basically stock feeling. Here's a good thread to help decide - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34635

ptuning had it for $400 shipped, I'd strongly recommend that route. It didn't start slipping till over 300wtq.

I agree with this. I have the ACT 6 puck and the ultralite flywheel. I do daily drive mine. The pedal pressure is similar to stock, but the engagement area is much smaller so you have to be careful not to stall each time.

Exedy Stage 1 installed, I have put about 10 miles on it and it feels great. Engagement is a little heavier, but you can feel the release point better. The flywheel that comes with it is lighter weight, revs much quicker, but with that it will lose revs quicker as well. For a $400 clutch/flywheel combo, losing about 11lbs from stock, allowing me to exceed the stock clutch's torque limits and feeling pretty darn close to stock, I'm very happy with the selection.
