Virginia License Plate

This is more of a rant than anything. WHY does Virginia still require a front license plate? I HATE those things and the thought of drilling the front bumper of a new car eats my butt. Don't they realize the thousands of dollars they could save the state in not having the extra plate made? Rant over.

Just get a plate relocator, and be happy if the dealer didn't pre-drill your bumper for you!

It sucks. I lived in Florida for awhile and when I moved back to MD the front plate sucked. At least we don't have that stupid sticker thing you guys have to do on the front windshield. Oh well, nothing to be done about it other than Grimmspeed relocator for the best look.

Thanks for the ideas. Not so opposed to having the front plate as I am drilling the bumper.

Here in Australia front plates are mandatory in all states and territories.

There's only the exception of vehicles with original issued plates from like the 1930's when they only had the rear plate issued by govt.

Speed camera detection is the basic reason they keep it this way.

Motorcycles do not have a front plate for the reason of safety, though every so often some "group" push for a return to front plates for M/C's.

Here in the US only a hand full of states still require front plates, and I'd like to see them done away with altogether.

FWIW, been driving my BRZ for about a year now with no front plate, and I had requested it never be drilled in the first place since it shipped from Colorado. Zero problems with police to date in/around northern virginia and DC

I've been driving without one in Virginia for as long as I can remember. Finally got popped the other day. I decided to cave in and install the grimmspeed plate kit that I had ordered rather than give the police another reason to pull me over and avoid fighting real crime.

Mine is magnetic. Still, I'm applying for Florida tags when these get close to expiration.

Just don't put it on. Most people don't have front plates... The dealer should include the front plate kit since it's required by law, so put that in your trunk along w/ your plate. You'll always be "scheduled" to get that thing installed at the dealer "this weekend" in case anyone asks about it.
