2017 BRZ HU Recommendations

Hi,

I'm thinking about replacing the head unit on my 2017 Subaru BRZ, mainly to use the CarPlay so that I can get rid of my car phone mount. Please comment if you have any recommendations, thanks!

Recently, I've been a fan of the ATOTO S8 with the plug and play adapters for the BRZ, it makes it easy.

ATOTO S8:

This is highly dependent on your budget. More $ could get you a Pioneer or Sony that would be an upgrade from the S8

I just posted this in another thread but I've been really happy with a Sony XAV-AX4000 I installed in my 2015 BRZ a few months ago. $500. Wireless car play. Regular buttons for volume which I like. Responsive screen (actually better than the more expensive Pioneer I have in my truck). You can upload different backgrounds which was cool. I did a cool BRZ logo.

I have the less expensive XAV-3250 and it's great...except for the screen. Just a little dim, especially in direct sun.

Otherwise it's just what I was looking for in a head unit. Simple, physical buttons, not obnoxious looking, android auto, etc..

Just spend a little extra for a model with a better screen.

I recommend looking into head units from brands like Pioneer, Kenwood, and Alpine, which offer excellent compatibility with Apple CarPlay.

Been running a DMH-W4600NEX since they came out.
Not perfect, but does wireless carplay perfectly 99% of the time.

They need to add a dimming setting for night mode. That thing is briiiiight.
(Then again, I run the cluster at the second to lowest setting. So that might just me be)
