First GT86 - used purchase - opinions

Hello guys!

While I read the forum a lot, I registered just today because I need your experienced opinions for a used GT86 I am interested in.

First of all, I live in Greece where the price for a new GT86 is way higher compared to the U.S. (a new one costs approx. $43k), therefore my only viable option is to buy a used one. I do not want to spend more than $27-28k since I do not think that this car worth it’s original price tag.

The problem is that the only available GT86 in my country atm is the one below which as you can see it’s heavily modded (FI -probably SC-, RB kit, brakes, exhaust, some changes on the interion, etc…). I have not seen the car in person yet so I would like your opinion on what should I check when the time comes. Personally, if I was going to buy a used GT86 I would like to be stock in order to modify as per my liking (but no FI anytime soon). The car will be DD, so reliability is a big factor here. What I do mind though, is the RB kit, which it might be nice & aggressive but I do not like the huge tyres requirement since I would like sliding the car in country roads without effort. I think with such huge tyres, sliding will be much more difficult compared to the original 215 tyres, despite the extra +50 horsepower.

The car it’s an A/T (I do not want M/T), it has approx. 19k miles on it and it’s a 2013 model.

Awaiting your opinions!

I honestly would avoid it, and wait out for a non molested model if/when it shows up.

but I avoid all modded cars if I am searching for a used car.

Wait for stock.
That one could be well done or it could be junk. Can't tell since all the pictures are just the pretty parts. The fender roll under that kit could be a nightmare.
How much are they asking for it?

Wait for what you want.

Besides, that wheel / tire setup is awful even with the bodykit. Lots of people hackjob these cars....just wait and find an unmolested one.

Rocket Bunny with stock ride height shows that the person who modded that car was not "all there" mentally. Avoid.

Wait for what you want. Spending a large sum of money and making such a huge compromise isn't worth it.

Obviously a perfect used car is hard to find but you'll likely be happier finding one closer to stock like you wanted.

Our thoughts are still with those people of the town of Mati, Greece, surrounding areas, after the devastating wildfires there in July.

Any support for those people by others close by will surely be appreciated. They still need lots of help.

Keeping the stock ride height might because of the roads in Greece -

But, it does look goofy.

Rocket bunny kit on stock ride height and an unspecified FI kit?

Crack pipe even if it was half the price.

Welcome in the forum Daospi.
In my humble opinion import a used one from Italy or Germany, including taxes will cost you the same but you'll have an almost unmodified car, check it first at ADAC for problems service history etc.
And don't buy an automatic one it doesn't suit our country roads...examples:

Thank you guys for your opinions and the assistance, really appreciated!

Indeed the car looks "suspicious". Moreover, there is zero pictures of what's under the hood and that's alarming.

You are right, but it might be due to the bad quality of the greek roads. I cant blame him for that (but it looks terrible).

That's was indeed a disaster I hope none will ever face such a tragedy.

Well, that was my option no.2 but the import charges from 09/01/2018 are extremely high...Import alone would cost approx. $6-7k (if not more)...

If the car was not DD, I would definitely be looking for M/T, but atm I prefer the A/T and the paddle shifter (+ the lower taxes due to CO2 emissions).
