DIY: Cellphone headrest mount for use with Torque App (Gauges in-video)
I just finished my headrest based phone/camera/etc. mount for my BRZ. I threw it together last Saturday, but it sat a bit too low as seen here in this video...
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0HWb3QKyRk"]Kosts In-car vid 1 - YouTube[/ame] I had a Gimbal mount sitting around from my last car that I used with a Sony Camcorder. But I wanted to use my cellphone with the Torque App installed (if you don't know what the Torque App is, you need to know NOW and start using it ASAP! http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ghlight=torque ) and my Bluetooth OBD-II adapter so I could show gauges in my videos. So anyway, its simple, I got the idea from here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...eadrest+camera Its just some 1" square tubing, a couple of circular hook bolts of the correct size, some nuts, and my Gimbal mount along with the JOBY GripTight Mount for my Phone (http://joby.com/img/jm1/newproduct/g...ures_specs.png) Its VERY stable surprisingly, I'm using a Galaxy S3 for the vids. Quality is quite high too, so I'm very happy. The whole setup didn't cost me much of anything since I had everything but the round loop bolts and JOBY mount. The extra 4-5 inches of height I got from the Gimbal mount and JOBY mount make it just the right height now. |
