Roof metal = embarrassingly weak?

No joke, my brother threw a sour skittle into the air and it came down on my BRZ's roof. While very very tiny and only seen at an angle, it actually dented the thing. He felt bad, so he threw a couple skittles at his own car's roof with actual force and they didn't do anything. So is the metal really cheap? Or a weight reducing?

Either way, I'm terrified for any size hail. Heck, who knows what a hard rain will do!

How do you think they got 27xx lbs? The body panels are thin and there's not a lot of sound deadening.

Aluminum is lightweight, but easy to dent as well. Still, a Skittle? wtf.

EDIT: Thought we were talking about the hood at first, then I realized we're talking about the roof which makes this even more of a WTF.

Post a picture. I don't believe for a moment that a skittle dented the roof.

Skittle of Thor? Or perhaps it was just coincidental and there was already a dent there?

Negating velocity loss due to air resistance: Speed of Skittles going up = Speed of Skittles coming down. Depending on how high he threw it up theres a pretty good chance it was going faster than you think. Skittles also have the hard shell which takes quite a bit of pressure to crush. If it were M&M's the shell would have cracked to expend the engergy and thus have less impact on your roof.

There have been reports of acorns falling from trees and squirrels throwing acorns at the twins leaving dents too.

My hood was devestated by an acorn falling from a tree. Aluminum dents. Get a carbon overlay.
