2017+ MT CARB Certified Superchargers

Hi all,

I'm in California and have a 2017 Toyota 86 MT. I was pretty set on getting the Jackson Racing supercharger kit w/ their factory CARB certified tune, but it looks like the certification for 2017+ has not yet been approved.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get an ETA (would love to hear if anyone knows).

Starting this thread to compile a list of CARB certified kits for 2017+ MT.

Please post if you know of any kits that are certified. Thanks!

Currently your only option is Edelbrock.

PM and I can get you set up with the kit + install.

I see. That's unfortunate- was hoping to have a few more options to choose from.

It is. You can blame CA/CARB for not having more options.

You could wait or you could get a kit then take it off for smog or perhaps it will eventually be CARB approved by the time you need to smog. You won’t need to smog your car for another four years. I have a 2013 and my first smog should be next year. My registration due in December for this year did not require a smog. I’ve been waiting for Harrop to get an EO for years.

Oh wow, 8 years? I was under the impression that it was 4 (my next year). I'll have to give this some more thought. Thanks for the information.

Yes sir. It was 6 years, but they changed it to 8 years a while back.

Yopu have 8 years before Smog. Still taking a chance but don't driven like a jackass and have a tame exhaust you should be good.

I wouldn't count on getting a CARB certification in 8 years. This model is almost at the end of production and the incentive for the CARB effort is fading fast.

Luckily, Edelbrock is available and it is one of the best options anyway. I would get it properly installed at CSG with a good oil cooler and enjoy the car with the peace of mind.
