I'm not really knowledgeable on this to be certain, but I'm pretty sure you can put a bov on any turbo...I'm guessing it comes with a bpv?
You should do some research.. I used to own a wrx and know stis/wrx's don't come with BOV, but bpv's. You can put a bov on any of them though, but from what I read, it wouldn't be the most ideal setup.. |

The only difference between a BOV and BPV is that a BOV (Blow Off Valve) bents to atmosphere whereas a BPV (By Pass Valve) vents to a recirc tube back into the intake. My GenCoupe came with a BPV but I deleted the recirc tube because it recirc'ed hot air (and I like the sound of a BOV).
Even a first gen GenCoupe 2.0T comes with a BPV even though it only makes something like 240 HP. A BOV/BPV protects the engine and turbo from getting damaged, it is needed on all turboed cars. The wastegate prevents further boost from being made, but it does nothing for boost that is already present when you go off-throttle. That's what the BOV/BPV does. |

How much PSI?
Theoretically any boosted engine should have some type of blowoff/bypass mechanism. It's there to prevent compressor surge, and really meant to protect the turbo. If you retain the stock MAFS and have a BOV setup venting to the atmosphere, you need to make sure you have the proper tune to compensate for it, otherwise you may stall between shifts or have really poor throttle response due to rich mixture. -alex |

If you're new to turbos, you absolutely need a wastegate, can't run without one. You can run without a BOV but you'll increase wear on your CHRA exponentially. Especially journal type CHRAs. |
