Credit to Subaru and the massive set the driver has but I'm not sure I see the the relevance to.....anything. The car is a silhouette racer. It has as much in common with the road car on which it is based as a porcupine.

Oh I like that term!

Like an engine swapped Twin things reach a point where it should no longer be called the original name.

Check out this "86". I love listening to the engine winding up. It goes through 3, maybe 4 distinct stages. I'm guessing he's running a flexfuel kit and OFT or maybe even gone the whole way with Ecutek. I guess my car is just as fast because they look so similar. Well, at least the tail lights do.

A tech talk about this car:

As other mentioned, not relevant at all with the ordinary STI or even the STI Type RA.

Agreed. It's definitely a cool feat for Subaru, but I'd be more interested to see what the standard road car can do.

Though in all reality, there are so many factors to consider when a manufacture does one of these laps that it shouldn't really be taken with much more than a grain of salt.

Vehicle prep levels, drivers, weather conditions, etc. A small difference like that on such a long course like the Nordschleife equals a few seconds easily.
