Automation: The Car Company Tycoon Game
I found this cool game on Steam green light program
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...71&searchtext= Automation allows the player to become an armchair CEO - to build their own car company from the ground up. Create and run anything from a boutique supercar manufacturer to a mass-market multinational mogul. With powerful tools like the Engine Designer, the player can create cars and their engines in mind-boggling detail. |

It's brilliant for toying around with engines. managed to replicate the GT86 torque curve pretty accurately, even though I had to make it an I4 since oppsoed engines aren't implemented yet. Even got the torque dip pretty accurate. And as I've been saying the whole time, it's more of a low boost than mid dip. I made it in the game with VVT settings. I was able to eliminate it completely, but at the cost of low end torque.
Playing with this will make you appreciate the design contraints that goes into an engine design, and the compromises that must be made. Makeing a 1200hp, high-revving V8 is no problem, making it on a budget is impossible. So, give yourself some constraints and try to maximise it within those limits and have hours of fun/frustration |

They added turbos.
I still don't have any clue how they work. Spiny blades of black magic and death they are. I'm still working mostly on naturally aspirated engines and now that they adjusted the weights, it can be reasonably lightweight. VVL makes a huge difference but it adds cost and about 27lbs to the engine. For a race car it's unnecessary but fuel economy and low end torque is significantly better with it. I usually run a fuel efficient version just for kicks. It's not nearly as interesting. 200BHP, detuned for the 13:1 compression ratio and still requires 93 octane fuel. |

That's because of how I tune an engine using VVL. I always put the two cams really far apart then push them closer together. I can tune it out but I usually just minimize it and leave it. I spend maybe 10 minutes on each engine before I make a new one.
