Another career thread - Changing at 31
I've seen a few people posting about career change so I decided to share my story. Though I'm only 31 I've been a graphic designer for almost 12 years now counting education, and the thing is I have no passion for it, I'm tired of it and I feel like I'm not getting any personal satisfaction for it, I've seen it all. I work in a print job and is super efficient at it but it doesn't work for me anymore.
I spend my break times at work (and at home..) just browsing car website (like here!) and decided since I'm lucky enough to be single at the moment(I need to move) with no kids, and just f'n do it! So in september I'm starting to train as a truck/trailer and perhaprs heavy machinery technician, it's going to be a long journey of apprenticeship but definitely worth it despite new accumulated debts. I love playing with my car, I got hundreds of hours and entire weekends of wrenching behind the belt already and it's just so easy for me. I would have went car mechanic but the salary just isn't there. Moral: If you want to change your life, work toward it, plan, and do it.

When I graduated high school.. I went to an automotive and diesel college to become a certified mechanic.. I didn't give it much thought other than to get out of the house and do something different that I thought I would love... Since I had a love for cars since I was a baby..
To make a long story short.. I worked in IT for the last 35 years and retired from IBM after 25+ years .. I still enjoy playing with my cars... Life just keeping coming at you... |
