Long start up. Not weather related.
Strange, I drove to work parked the car. 4 hours later I went back to the car to leave for lunch, and I had a looooooong start up, I had to try 3 times, and finally it started.
Automatic. Happened once before like 3 months ago. Anyone else experience this? What do I do?

This happened to me for the first time last Friday. I was leaving work, but I went to lunch that day. So the car had been sitting for maybe 3 hours. It took me 3 tries to get it started.

Maybe ignition coil faulty/fuel pump/filter or defect not sure
Could of flooded it for a sec.. Are you waiting for like 2/3 seconds letting the fuel pump to reach the engine before cranking the engine? I had this similar issues on my DC2 replace the ignition coil and problem went away... |

It's happened to me before two or three times before (might have been the cold weather), but not in a while.
Someone told me to pump the gas while turning the key, not sure if that's valid advice or not. |

Just weird man. I don't want to get stuck in Torrance after the sun goes down.

Funny that a bunch of Australian Clio RS200 owners are reporting the same issue. We all had the issue arise in the last week. Only happens with factory tuned cars and could be heat related. Most of Australia is in heat wave at the moment.

So just switch the key to on for a few seconds before starting?

Fuel injected cars don't need this. The ECM handles all the fuel stuff these days. That being said, waiting a second or 2 after turning key to on, but before cranking might allow the fuel pumps time to create fuel pressure so that the fuel injectors have something to inject. If doing this doesn't help, I'd say there's another problem, and would be talking to the dealer. |

Whenever my car wouldn't start, it would be because of two things: 1. Low Fuel 2. Turning the key too fast Or a combination of these two things. If it's not either of these things, then go ahead and take it in. |

I've got the same thing a couple times. I though it was cause it was cold. We were at like -20 so it wasn't super cold and I didn't think I should be having those problems. But them it did it a couple days ago when it was like plus5 out so I don't think it was cold. I didn't have to try again it just took about 3-5 seconds befor it turned over.

Is it because of newer high pressure fuel pumps? I never had this problem with older cars.
