Car came in this week. But I changed my mind.
Got my call last week to pick up my BRZ.
5 months it took. I decided to say no and wait for next years model or the STI. Figured some of the issues would be worked out. But really looking forward to the STI. Did I do the right thing? |

STi could be 2 years out and cost $35k. Next year's model won't be out for another 6 months at the earliest - maybe 9. Then wait in that line from when they open up taking 2014 orders till you get it, could be a year. They could change the price, remove features, cheapen things, etc. I wouldn't expect every change to be an improvement.
Did you do the right thing? That can only be found out in retrospect. Wait a year or two and let us know if you did the right thing or not. |

You have to do what's right for you, and just think your cancelled order probably made the day of some local guy who was on the waiting list behind you and will get a chance to buy yours now earlier...

I figured not too much would change in one year. And if things change it should be for the better. Plus I will not have to finance it next year.

Knowning subaru, they always had improvements within each years. Just look at 04 vs 05 sti imprezas. Its always good thing to wait for 2nd year car in any cases. That is if you are willing to wait for that long

This is funny as I did the complete opposite as you couple weeks ago. - Was going wait and order next year and ended up buying pretty much what I was going to order sitting on the lot.
The bottom line here is we will all be driving a BRZ sooner or later= Win-win! |

I think you did the right thing. Personally, I wont' buy a first-year car. There are always little annoying issues that need to be corrected and I don't mind waiting a while. Also, I'm still convinced that the BRZ will be available with a factory turbo in a year or two. By that time, the bugs should be worked out and the car will have some "extra" factory HP. If the price goes up (which it will), I'm okay with that.

I'm doing the same tihng, just waiting. this car will only get better. I expecting a lot of improvements and all the bug to be fixed.
you shouldn't buy the first model of anything cuz it all goes wrong. I'm also waiting to see what Subaru will do with the WRX cuz I'm sure the learned a TON from the BRZ so that car won't be slow like the BRZ/FRS. |

It's all really depends on what you really want.
if you could wait longer, then wait for the model you want. I placed order in August and still waiting. I could wait forever but need a car very soon. also, every year or 2, they improve little by little so you get 14 model then in year 15 there could be better one. I would just take it and enjoy it. when STI comes out, you'll see what it is like then trade it up for STI or get STI parts |
