BRZ Limited vs. Sport-tech - the differences

[Sport-Tech]

There are a few differences between the US and Canadian top-level models of note:

- Sport tech gets "upgraded" brakes - these brakes are standard on both US models (see this thread).EDIT - the order sheet that stated this is apparently wrong, no brake differences between models.

- Limited gets heated mirrors - both Canadian models get these

- Limited gets silver metallic accent trim (this is not the chrome fender trim accessory) - not on Sport-tech

- Limited gets keyless access (touch activated door unlock); Sport tech gets Smart Key. (These may be the same things but it is not clear - both get push-button start.)

- Limited gets anti-theft security, both US models gets immobilizer. Canada: both models get "Engine immobilizer system and anti-theft security system"

- both Canadian models get different nav HU - only US unit is voice activated.

- Sport-tech gets "front door courtesy lights" - not mentioned anywhere on US spec web page

I'd assume bluetooth is standard in both US and CDN versions. Any idea?

Hope CDN gets touch activated door unlock as well...

And too bad not voice activated for the nav unit. Not a big deal, but a nice to have.

The accent trim is a horizontal chrome piece over the faux-vent on the shoulder (IIRC).
Yes BT is in Canadian cars.

Also wanted to add that according to the PDF we get a "Hill Holder System" - something not mentioned in the BRZ online manual or in any US specs I have seen. I may phone Subaru Canada to get this (and the brake upgrade) clarified.

That "Silver metallic accent trim" is under "Seating & trim" everything in this category is interior . I'm thinking if they meant that vent garnish it would've been under "Exterior", plus the vent garnish isn't Silver metallic, it's baller chrome from what i saw .

See the Black plastic on the SIDES of the HVAC? The trim around the shifter almost appears black/dark grey too

Good catch, forgot about the heading, I am sure you are right. I think we must get that on the Sport-tech, it is just not mentioned, as I have never seen an auto-climate BRZ interior without this trim - have to review my photo library to be sure.

That is linked to earlier somewhere - may be one of my posts, can't remember. It has been out a while, and its feature list is not as comprehensive as the spec sheet I used to compile the above differences.

I assumed this was general knowledge at this point. As mentioned in my OP, this unit does not have any voice command function, a feature the US unit does have. And if you look at the Japan reveal videos you will see that they have the more recent Pioneer HU, the Z140BH which has a 7" as opposed to a 6.1" screen.

The X9310BT is actually already an outdated end-of-line unit unfortunately - thanks Subie! It has been replaced by the X940BT.

Ive got the pdf that mentions brakes to anyone who wants it.

That pioneer IS outdated...but ill gladly take it over the US alternative. For once Canadians got the long end of the stick....thats all ill say: p

Checked the user manual - it does have one neat feature, you can choose the backlight colour for the buttons etc, so you'll be able to match the red of the IP display.

Weird we get a different HU. Is it because of the maps or something? I see the Forester and the STI have the same one.

I dont have a definitive answer as to why subaru canada does this. Maybe subaru canada has better margins in pioneer and clarion units than they do with what Subaru US uses. Subaru cdn and us models usually share base units, but the upgraded units often differ across all models. Its been this way for the past 4 or 5 years.

The brake info is clearly wrong on the thickness, so that brings the rest into question as well.
