Wheel hub/wheel speed sensor issues

Hello,
Just picked up a used BRZ and it has code c1465 (front left wheel speed sensor). When looking into it I found the cap on the back of the hub was bent and damaged the sensor slightly. It scraped a small groove into the plastic but doesn't appear to be broken. I straightened the cap on the hub out and cleaned everything up, cleared the code and the code keeps coming back after driving about 100 yards. I'm not very familiar with how the wheel speed sensor works with this car so I'm not sure if the damaged hub is the problem or not. I'm not sure which part really needs to be replaced here so instead of buying both im asking if anyone has a suggestion as to which (if not both) part should be replaced.

See attached pictures.

I'd say to try to swap the front wheel speed sensors to see if the issue is with the hub or the sensor. You could switch hubs instead, but that would take more time.

I have a thread dealing with wheel speed sensors too: https://www.ft86club.com/forums/show...69#post3441369. Believe I posted a link to a video showing how they work (magnetic induction). In my case, it ended up being the wheel bearing and not the sensor.

Ha! Previous owner destroyed that reluctor (tone) wheel which, in turn, destroyed the sensor. Replace both

...might be able to get away with flattening the reluctor wheel. ...maybe, if you're really handy with that kind of stuff. That sensor is toast.
