Toyota/Subaru even list in the manual that you can use the MG stuff or equivalent (though finding a GL-3 is tough because it is technically an inactive spec from API), afterward they have this nice box:

This coupled with the fact that it's a warranty thing makes me want to find the MG Gear Oil even more.
