Feel like they could have just put 11-1 compression, maybe forged rods. And run 9psi and hit about 280hp on 93 reliably. And then have a 10-1 lbs-hp ratio from factory for about 32k msrp for base model manual. And it would be perfectly priced With good power from the factory.

I paid 28k for a 2017 - 86 auto w/ spoiler out the door. Having 11-1 compression wouldn’t cost more
If that was what initially came with it. Forged rods wouldn’t be too much more, And a turbo at least save a little not having factory header. Could do it for probably 5k if built that way from the start and should still be pretty reliable.
