As far as valve clearance, it's my understanding that this engine uses "buckets" to alter the valve clearance. However, I reckon changing the buckets could be considered "adjusting" the valve clearance ??

Not sure what shimming the head would be either?
Valve adjustment is done with these little guys:
Changing the springs will not alter valve adjustment. Although they may be out due to wear.
