NO, the rusted lug will NOT explode. However, they will rust and seize to the wheel studs, so when you take them off they will weaken the studs and the wheel will eventually fall off.

So, in order to stop the process, Bubba suggests you simply spray the lug nuts with chrome/silver Rust Oleum. Then next year, when it rains again, spray them again.

Dude, exploding lug nuts and damage to the balls is a real problem. I have see it first hand back in 'Nam. I lost 3 buddies cause of it.

I think.....

Ether way I would not sell a Civic to some one that is worried a tad of rust in the old lug nuts.
