Actually S14B20 was a 2.0L version used only on the BMW E30 320is (I actually found this on wiki, as I was thinking of the S14 on the M3 originally).
The E30 M3 had 2.3L and 2.5L S14 engines, to basically compete with the Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3L and 2.5L with AMG Power Packs at the time.
