You can have that on a normal torque converter auto too if it's programmed as such. Same with a DSG, there are some DSG's that don't allow full control either (i.e. let you bang off the rev limiter forever).
Don't start with the auto vs manual. Just let it be. You're just as ignorant for suggesting manual drivers are old school as they are for thinking auto's are lifeless. It's a preference/opinion.
