1) Catalytic converter, but yes.

2) not entirely. The midpipe is the straightest of the pipes, but Straight pipes are a term given to exhausts that come generally straight back from the header with no obstructions, bends, mufflers, cats. They tend to be EXTREMELY loud, and often raspy.

Also, to correct myself, I was at the gym typing that last bit up on my phone.

Replace midpipe in my last description with "front pipe"

The catback is the midpipe + axleback. Fixing my previous post.
