You can always use a higher octane fuel than your tune, you just can't go lower (or rather shouldn't if you value your engine).
I was thinking it was just the ECU learning the map but you said you ran it for a week and it didn't get better. Maybe just confirm you have the correct map loaded is the only thing I can think of.
