I finally got my flip key and I was so excited to do this DIY. The first thing I did was get my key cut. And guess what?! I got the opposite problem that you guys got: he cut TOO MUCH off my blank key.
If he cut too little, I could at least trim it down. But there's no saving a key that has too much cut off.
What's more is that pin is stuck in my spring ring (the circular thing attached to the blank key). I think the vendor I got it from superglued it in or something. This sucks... This should have been such an easy, but useful, mod. =(

home depot cut off too much off mine as well.
the pin is in there pretty tight and a bitch to get out. it took a few good wacks before it would budge.
