Isn't the BRZ TS supposed to be track-focused? Seems silly that Subaru put the regular PS4 tire on there instead of the PS4-S or Cup 2. Not sure what they were thinking as it would have made a 1-1.5 second difference over a 1 minute lap.

I think it is because of a lack of 215/40/R18 with the PS4S and Cup 2 at least from what I've read. Basically it's just a trim deviation of the JDM STI Sport off the factory floor.
The old JDM tS wasn't a factory production line model and used 225/40/R18 PSS. Most of the improvements off that bespoke car has been implemented with the factory car using a more cost effective solution, minus some of the good stuff but very minor.
