I daily my car in the winter. Good set of snows on the stock rims. Also put a heavy Anvil in the trunk. Just need to be smart about when and how you drive. I've only got in trouble once the bottom starts dragging.
I do carry a small foldable shovel and tow strap in my trunk just in case.
