This topic gets overanalyzed way too much.
I just put the stands on the jack points, and jack the car as close to them as possible. Bending or not bending the weld is really 110% dependent on how much force you apply and how fast you apply it. Move slow and you're fine. I haven't bent mine in the 15ish times I've been on stands and lifts since November.
