You're talking about under the trim panels? Carpet retains moisture too well. If you want to help with sound get yourself a big roll of Ensolite, a couple cans of super90 spray glue, some instructions on how to remove the entire interior and a weekend. It can make a pretty big difference. My car is considerably quieter than a stock BRZ. You'll never get to Audi levels of sound but it can make a big difference.
