I think that was still a thing when I was in school. For the longest time, I thought that's just where they sent the mentally handicapped kids. It was only when folks I knew started going to BOCES that I figured out it was a trade school.

I don't think I ever called someone a "BOCES kid" though. Mostly I pissed the other children off by pointing out their inadequacy directly.

It's ok, as adults we know better right?
