Although yours may have something wrong I would just like to point out a couple of things that may mean it doesn't

These shifters are solid linked right to the tranny. This results in a different feel and noises then cable systems used in many modern cars. If not used to them they can seem strange but there is nothing actually wrong with anything and that is just the noises they make.

The lack of sound proofing in these means that you hear every little sound that may exist in other cars but you just never notice. Couple this with the fact that the tranny is sitting a couple of inches from your butt (instead of way ahead of you like in a FWD and the noises get even weirder.

I guess what I am saying is, don't get paranoid about weird noises. If everything is working OK then it probably is OK.
