I am trying to pile house banners and things like that as a sort of "stackable money" - it can be put into glimmer if necessary, but can be stored in the vault.



So you can have 2 exotic weapons right? Just making sure I fully understood you.
You cannot have 2 exotic weapons equiped. you can have 2 exotics weapons in your inventory though. Also keep in ming that when you switch weapons from your inventory, you lose at least 50% of your ammo. Which makes switching to a rocket launcher useless IMO.
