Space. The fronts have enough internal volume (as far as tein is concerned at least) to not need them. The rear shock bodies on our cars are already really short stock. Then you make them shorter to improve performance when lowered and you start cutting into the needed volume of nitrogen/oil for effective operation. So, add a canister for the gas. Makes assembling the adjustment mechanism easier as well.
