The STI transmission is known to hold up over 600AWHP and survive endless launches, it's basically a given that if you want a high horsepower WRX, you swap in an STI trans and driveline. It's an incredible feat to have that trans come stock in an STI, almost unfair, I don't know much about it other than at my friend's shop, it goes into just about every 10k+ WRX build
