RC cars have ridiculous power : weight ratios compared to full size cars, and need all the traction they can get under power.
This is a video of my RC drift car (yes, sacrilege using an E30 M3 for that), it's AWD. If it were RWD it would just do donuts, you'd never get it moving enough to go anywhere.
