Toyota wanted the 86 to be tuner friendly to begin with at least inside Japan. Not so sure about this new Supra.

While it does interface with techstream for body control configuration, the ECU encryption is pretty standard faire Subaru. Hence why Tactrix/OpenECU supported it so quickly.
New Supra has tuning in mind as well, the motor and chassis have a surprising amount of provisioning for tuners and tinkerers.
